Have you all had a good week ? We have been lucky to escape the heavy snowfall that a lot of Scotland has been getting - we only had about an inch, but it has been bitterly cold. Last saturday was quite pleasant and l managed to get out in the garden to do a bit of tidying up - no chance of that this weekend so l will have some time in my craft room playing :)

Craft Obsessions

This week l have seen the first sign that spring is on it's way with a few daffodil noses poking through the frozen ground. It is a good dry but breezy day and not a bit of frost today - yesterday was very white everywhere with a severe frost. I love looking closely at the frost and seeing how it has formed it is so pretty. So l guess today's card is quite fitting with snowflakes - a few customers yesterday said we are due more snow.

As soon as l saw this gorgeous stamp my sister sprang to mind as when she was a little girl she had a mass of tight curls - this will be her birthday card, she has never seen my blog so no chance of her seeing this. My project today was not what l had planned but this evolved over the last couple of days. A lovely friend is to become a Grandma this weekend, when Mum to be is induced. These days they like to know if it is a boy or girl - none of that in my day - Olivia Rose will be making an entrance into the world then this can go in the post. I stamped using versamark onto vellum and heat embossed with silver powder, cut out and added a gem to the centre. I used various die cuts for foliage, gems and ribbon and hey presto Hubby's card is done, pleased to say he loves it.

That's me all carded out now for christmas 64 cards made, wrote - some with letters and posted. Last minute shopping today then job done.

A perfect challenge for this week as it has been trying to snow here for the last few days following Storm Caroline, so far we have not had the heavy snow that has been forecast.

This week l have gone for something completely different - l went to Hobbycraft on monday for a sewing kit gift and came out with loads of goodies including this MDF advent tree which l gave a makeover

Firstly l painted the tree shape and drawers in blue acrylic paint, when dry l used the stencil to apply snowflakes with the silver acrylic paint. I added touches of silver randomly on edges, when completely dry l added a gem to the centre of each snowflake on drawer fronts as well as a gem on each drawer knob. I also bought a little box of numbers - which were next to the trees on the shop shelf and you would have thought that each box had enough numbers.....no, not enough No. 1's so hubby just trimmed a few 7's down.....shame on you hobbycraft as l was not making a 60 mile round trip to buy another box.  Anyway job done and l am pleased with the result - just need to get a few treats for the remaining days.
