We have had scorching weather up here, in fact it has been too hot to be outside, even the house got too hot - on thursday morning l had to go out and could not lock the conservatory as it had expanded, just as well it is quiet round here. Even the candles melted to liquid.
School is now out for summer, yippee, off pick up duty so a good chance to catch up with other things:)

Hope you have all had a good week, mine has been busy as usual. The garden is all planted up now for summer but it took a battering with the strong winds on thursday. We had a tree fall down - a beautiful pyracantha which had lots of berries forming also a few plants in the border were down - the lovely dark sweet williams and lots of foxgloves so they are now in a vase. I managed to put some supports in for other plants. 
The children are counting the days down until summer break, only 2 weeks left and as my daughter and SIL are both in education l will get 6 weeks off from my Grandma duties ;)

We have been generously sponsored by Swedish House Crafts , they have a gorgeous range of online products so why not pop over for a peep.

The weather here has been amazing all week, often too hot to sit in, the veg garden is now almost full,  just the courgettes and the last of the beetroot to go in.  The border which is mostly perennials is filling out fast, l have grown cosmos, dahlia's, sunflowers inc chocolate ones, marigolds, sweetpeas all from seed and they are now in too.
 Last year l bought a plant from a house sale and l can't remember what it is called, it has lanterns in autumn like chinese lanterns but the flower which comes first is blue - the man told me the name but l can't remember it, he said it is an american plant. I took one of the lanterns which was full of seed and have grown them - hundreds all from one pod, then when weeding the border this week lots have also self seeded as l left the plant in over winter as the lanterns were beautiful.  Time now to think about next years wallflowers, sweet williams, foxgloves, lupins and so on - always something to do ..........except housework that can wait until a rainy day.

As l post this it is 10pm and we still have excellent daylight. We have a lot of blackbirds nesting in the hedges again this year - they are fledging right now and hopping around the garden looking for worms and chasing the parent birds around hoping for a meal. They look so funny running then stopping and listening. There is a bit of moisture in the air so hopefully the worms will be coming up to the surface. I love to see them and listen to them .....except when they wake me at 3.45 am
I feel very blessed to live in such a beautiful place surrounded by nature.

In The Garden

A very appropriate title for me as l spend most of my time in the garden at this time of year, busiest time of the year, potted on 80 delphiniums and hollyhocks yesterday that l have grown from seed to plant out in october ready for next year. Had a full day in garden yesterday and probably the same today. So thats my garden bit .....lets see yours.
