Allsorts Challenge 445

It is Saturday again and that can only mean the start of the new challenge over at Allsorts.  This week my lovely teamie Helene is the host and she has chosen
Snowflakes
A perfect challenge for this week as it has been trying to snow here for the last few days following Storm Caroline, so far we have not had the heavy snow that has been forecast.
Check out what my lovely teamies have to share with you here along with all the challenge details.
This week l have gone for something completely different - l went to Hobbycraft on monday for a sewing kit gift and came out with loads of goodies including this MDF advent tree which l gave a makeover

A work in progress

Decorated edge

MDF Tree Hobbycraft
Acrylic Paint
Snowflake stencil
Gems, Numbers

We have been generously sponsored by. Marianne Design

Firstly l painted the tree shape and drawers in blue acrylic paint, when dry l used the stencil to apply snowflakes with the silver acrylic paint. I added touches of silver randomly on edges, when completely dry l added a gem to the centre of each snowflake on drawer fronts as well as a gem on each drawer knob. I also bought a little box of numbers - which were next to the trees on the shop shelf and you would have thought that each box had enough numbers.....no, not enough No. 1's so hubby just trimmed a few 7's down.....shame on you hobbycraft as l was not making a 60 mile round trip to buy another box.  Anyway job done and l am pleased with the result - just need to get a few treats for the remaining days.

Hope to see you over on the challenge x Susan x

Off to grandchildren's christmas fair this morning then back home to my duties and l am determined to have a full day all to myself crafting this week.

My husband got chatting to a lady a few months ago in B&Q he told her we had created a large border and where in the process of filling it and she kindly said she would have lots of free plants in autumn when dividing hers....so off he went on thursday and came back with the car packed full. You would have all laughed seen us planting them on thursday night by torchlight then finishing off yesterday. How kind and generous of a complete stranger to give us all those plants, her husband even dug them out for us. Stunning border pictures to follow sometime next summer !

I love this time of year when all the leaves are changing colour to all the beautiful reds, golds l just think they are stunning - picking up the fallen leaves is a very different matter. This year l am going to bag the leaves for leaf mould and l have plenty of trees in my garden that are currently shedding their leaves.
We are very lucky to live in the countryside and often see dear in the woodlands over the road and sometimes even running across the road which can be a bit scary.
So here is my offering for this week.

To say l will be glad when the midges have gone is an understatement, we have lots of trees and woodland around here which seem to be a magnet for them - bite cream is always at hand.  Hope you have all had good weather this week, enjoy your weekend, whatever you are doing. I hope to find some blackberries to go with the huge bags of apples we have picked and froze for winter.

Things With Wings
Check out what my lovely teamies have to share with you here along with all the challenge details.  Lots of options to choose from - butterflies, fairies, planes.

Stamp by Chloe Butterfly Wreath
Coloured with copics
Silver embossing powder
Vellum & gems

I have had this stamp a while and don't really use it enough. Firstly l stamped on white card with clear versamark then heat embossed with silver powder, l then repeated on vellum. l coloured by butterflies on the reverse of the vellum and the colour comes through nicely, after cutting out the butterflies l carefully added them to the card and popped a couple of gems to the centres. I just finished off with lines around the edge of white card to give a nice finish.

We have a couple of gorgeous stamps for this weeks winners.

I am just sat looking at the sky wondering if it is an outdoor or indoor day today. Yesterday was glorious and l got so much done outside but still quite a lot to do - tidying up the veg garden and still some bulbs to go in, l called into garden centre yesterday for some bags of patio base to go under new flags for my swing chair and when walking past the bulbs they had a buy one get one free on some tulips and l thought it would be very rude to just walk past ..... but no rush to get tulips in as they can be done in november. My sweet peas have been amazing and still picking lots for the house along with gladioli.

Hope you are all having a good weekend and hope to see you over on the challenge x Susan x

I am now in Christmas mode so there will be lots posted on here over the next few months.

Stamp - LOTV James Santa Stop Here
Coloured with copics
Papers LOTV
Dies - Sweet Dixie Poinsettia. Joy foliage & berries
Glamour dust, stickles, embossing powder
gem, texture paste.

We have a lovely die from Tattered Lace.

Also a gorgeous paper pack, so two chances of winning this week.

I know there are lots of gorgeous new stamps out there but l have so many that don't get much use l have decided to not buy any christmas this year.
In the past l have used punching paper from craftwork cards for my poinsettias but that has now run out - l wanted something with a bit of a shimmer. After a little thought l pulled out some starburst stains - some of you will remember them from way back and mixed up this gorgeous colour and just coloured some white paper and let it dry.

I was hoping to get  my 400+ spring bulbs planted this weekend but am a bit under the weather with a cold so will have see how l fell later today.
Enjoy the weekend whatever you are up too - hopefully a bit of crafting.
